A total of 7,947 projects in the
communications and information technology sector, with an investment of US
dollars 225 million, were inaugurated and put into operation at the One
Connected Iran ceremony, attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Seyed
Sattar Hashemi, Minister of Information and Communications Technology.
These projects were implemented on
Monday across various areas of the ICT sector, including the development of
communications infrastructure and the National Information Network, fiber
optics, mobile communications, postal and banking services, research and
technology, innovation and artificial intelligence, smart government services,
and space technology.
IP Network and Connecting
Villages to National Information Network
In the projects of the
Infrastructure Communications Company, the third phase of completing the
national IP network in all 31 provinces, comprising 10 projects was put into
operation.
The design and implementation of
rings and support centers for Tehran and Alborz provinces, implementation of
fiber optics at the Shahid Miri Data Hub in Mashhad and the Isfahan Technology
Site Data Hub, launch of an intelligent traffic analysis system and provision
of network optimization solutions, and the launch and operation of the
intercity and international switching network at 35 provincial switching
centers were among the other projects in this area.
Under the Universal Service
Obligation (USO) communications program, the connection of 358 villages to the
National Information Network and high-speed internet in 27 provinces was also
put into operation. This project covers all provinces of the country except
Tehran, Qom, Bushehr, and Semnan.
5,000+ Telecommunications
Projects
Telecommunication Company of Iran
also put 5,325 development projects into operation. These projects were
implemented across all provinces and covered fiber-optic development,
transmission systems, switching, data, buildings, power, and facilities.
Mobile operator MCI (Hamrah Aval)
also put approximately 1,200 projects into operation, including mobile network
capacity expansion and development, construction of new sites, and the design
and development of new systems across the provinces. These projects created 105
jobs.
The launch of 83 new MCI sites in
the networks of 22 provinces, modernization and capacity expansion of the
operator’s network in 22 provinces, and development of PE and satellite
equipment were among the other projects of this group.
Irancell also put 946
communications projects into operation, including the launch of 146 new 3G, 4G,
and 5G sites in 21 provinces and technology upgrades at 800 sites across the
country.
Other projects undertaken by this
group included increasing IPBB network capacity by 4,000 Gbps, establishing a
phased-synchronization overlay transmission network over Telecommunication
Company of Iran’s fiber-optic infrastructure on the IPBB network in Tehran,
Mashhad, and Yazd, increasing CGNAT capacity at gateways in Ahvaz, Tabriz,
Isfahan, and Tehran, designing and implementing CDN network infrastructure and
hosting for content providers, establishing a crisis-management network for the
Tehran metropolitan area, establishing and operating the Ahvaz internet gateway
on an end-to-end basis, and developing and increasing the resilience of the
frequency clock network.
Rightel launched 41 new LTE and
3G sites in 16 provinces across the country.
The Information and Communication
Technology Research Institute also put five laboratory launch and development
projects into operation.
Infrastructure of Payam
Special Economic Zone
Payam Aviation Services Company
also put eight projects into operation. They included preparing infrastructure
and access roads for a 25-hectare area, distribution and transmission of the
urban gas network and construction of a TBS station, development of the water
and sanitary wastewater network in Zones 2 and 3 of Phase Five, microduct
installation operations for the telecommunications network of the Special
Economic Zone in the development phases, purchase and installation of
prefabricated walls for fencing the surrounding perimeter, production of
industrial control automation system panels and intelligent fire detection and
suppression systems, and construction of two solar power plants.
Technology and Innovation and AI
Applications
The Deputy for Technology,
Innovation and International Affairs also put eight projects into operation. These
included the development of a predictive and analytical artificial intelligence
model for project costs in the upstream oil and gas industries and the EPC
contracting model, Phase Two of the Smart Agriculture System, the Hanil
intelligent assistant as a platform for providing artificial intelligence
infrastructure, the Makan system as a reference for evaluating digital services
for children, the Child in Cyberspace Program national document, the Nejāt
system, establishment of a provincial office of the Deputy for Technology,
Innovation and International Affairs in Qom Province, and the design,
production, and commercialization of a GSM+LTE cellular base station.
ICT Park’s Technological
Products and Infrastructure
The Information and
Communications Technology Park also put 10 projects into operation, creating
375 jobs.
The projects and products of this
group included the unveiling of an integrated detection and response platform
powered by artificial intelligence; UFL7000, UL1000, and UF1500 modems, the
Saman point-of-sale product, expansion of production capacity for mobile and
fiber-optic modems; a smart gas-meter production line, and microwave radio
antennas.
The first phase of the National
Smart Greenhouse Network program and the establishment of a joint growth center
and development of the digital economy of the ICT Park were among the other
projects in this area.
Postal Infrastructure
The National Post Company also
put into operation a building renovation project and the installation and
operation of the Hormuzgan sorting facility in Bandar Abbas, as well as the
installation and operation of the Kerman sorting facility.
Post Bank of Iran also
inaugurated 37 projects. These included the establishment and launch of 33
rural banking counters, the Hamta remote banking facility, Pro corporate
banking, the Green Home credit card, and the launch of the Pishva branch.
Space Infrastructure
The Iranian Space Research Center
put nine projects into operation. These included the rehabilitation and launch
of the mass-properties laboratory, the two-component thruster laboratory,
laboratories for evaluating actuators, mechanisms, and electric propulsion
systems the launch of space zones in Kerman and Golestan provinces as space
growth centers, the unveiling of the initial version of the National Remote
Sensing Hub, the unveiling of the thermal laboratory, and the rehabilitation
and launch of the battery and magnetism laboratory.
Smart Government Services
The Information Technology
Organization of Iran also put seven projects into operation in the field of
developing smart government services and digital infrastructure.
These projects included the Mashhad
Government Cloud, an artificial intelligence-powered specialized search engine
for government services, the National Window and the unveiling of the
electronic participation portal and the government services information portal,
the Didban system, a report ranking the digital readiness of a sample industry
from the perspective of ICT adoption in the agricultural sector, parallel
systems for presenting a maturity model for administrative and shared systems,
and the Zamin System, comprising a smart platform for geographic information
and location-based services, as well as a pilot project for issuing
land-allocation permits on a blockchain-based platform.
This collection of plans and
projects covered a broad range of communications infrastructure and services,
information technology, innovation, postal and banking services, smart
government services, and space technology, and represented part of the development
programs of the country’s communications and information technology sector.
